Make it a Family Affair

At Friends of Pathways we are big advocates of family fitness. Families that incorporate exercise into their daily lives are happier, more relaxed and physically healthier (UCDavis, 2009). Make the GoByBike School Challenge a family affair by participating with your kids as they incorporate biking and walking into their daily routines.

How can I help?

  1. You can always bike or walk with your kids (and kids’ friends) to school. By giving them a positive active role model they are more likely to incorporate physical activity into their adult lives. Plus exercise enhances the mood and health of everyone, a bonus for the whole family.

  2. Volunteer to walk or ride a group of kids to school. Friends of Pathways is always looking for dedicated parents and community members to help us out with Safe Routes to School events. Volunteer opportunities can be found on our website at www.friendsofpathways.org

  3. Sponsor your child through the Penny per Mile program. Friends of Pathways will dedicate 100% of donations from the Penny per MIle program towards Safe Routes to School programming. For every mile walked or biked by your child (to school, for after-school activities or social events) you commit to donate one penny to Friends of Pathways. Make exercise and fundraising a family affair! For more information on this program visit our website at www.friendsofpathways.org
